We assess ALL post travel illnesses. If you develop any of the following signs or symptoms upon return home, and up to three months after travel, then we suggest that you contact us for a medical assessment and examination.
- Fever
- Headaches
- Tiredness and exhaustion
- Muscle aches and pains
- Sweats or fevers (for example at night time)
- Diarrhea and/or vomiting
- Blood in the urine or in bowel motions
It is also a good idea to get a check up if:
- You have bathed, or even waded in fresh water in Africa or South America (A test for Schistosomiasis is recommended)
- You have had sexual contact with anyone you met on your travels (A test for Sexually Transmitted Diseases and AIDs is recommended)
- You were in a situation that might have exposed you to Hepatitis B or AIDs (such as an accident or any exposure to blood product, tattoos or piercings)
- You have any infections, bites or rashes that are not healing
- You are concerned about any health aspect of your recent travel that you would like checked out
In addition, we recommend following through with booster shots of any travel vaccinations you have had with us. Once most of these courses are completed, you will never need to have them again – a good thing if you plan on travelling in the future!
RABIES
If you have been bitten, scratched or licked where the skin is broken by an animal in an area where there is Rabies, you must seek medical attention immediately. Rabies can be fatal if left untreated. You must take action straight away.
